Just as Google+'s business offerings hit the headlines Facebook launches a new site to help small businesses get the best from its social space.
Whether coincidence or good timing, Facebook has launched a new offering in its latest series of Pages and websites aimed at helping companies and other professional users, such as journalists, use the social network more effectively. The new site, Facebook for Business, is aimed at small businesses. It provides instruction on how to set up a profile page, create targeted ads and deals and use sponsored stories and social plug-ins.
Facebook's announcement comes in the wake of brand shenanigans on Google+. Despite being asked to wait until the rollout of Google+ business profiles some brands had gone ahead created brand profiles using regular user pages which Google promptly deleted.
Businesses shouldn't have to wait long until then can unleash themselves on Google+'s 20million or so users. According to VentureBeat's Jolie O'Dell, "Google will be unveiling specially tweaked profiles with analytics and more sophisticated sharing options, all coming during (or shortly after) Q3 2011".
