Acer launches "Aspire S3" Ultrabook

Laptop and PC maker Acer has stepped into the Ultrabook market with the launch of the Aspire S3 - the company’s first ever product from the Ultrabook class of laptop.

Acer launched the product at the ongoing IFA 2011 show hosted in Berlin. The new product, according to Acer, will be just 13 mm thick and it weighs no more than 1.4 kg.
With this, the Aspire S3 has stepped into an arena where Ultrabooks from the company’s rival forces such as Lenovo, Asus and Toshiba are already battling it out amongst themselves to dominate the market.

Just like most of its rival products, the Aspire S3 also comes with 3 choices for the processor- Core i3, i5 or i7. In addition to that it gives users option to pick their preferred storage set up too. The available storage set up are - a 320 GB of 500 GB hard drive, or a 240 GB solid state disk drive.

"We are very happy to see the formal launch of the Acer Aspire S3, Acer's first Ultrabook, and to be one of the leading time-to-market partners to place an Ultrabook in the market," Mooly Eden, VP of Intel's PC Client Group said, The Inquirer reports.

Ultrabooks are considered, by many, as replacement to Tablet PCs as the intrest in tablets seem to be dropping.
