What and how are Netflix and Hulu users watching?

What are all those Netflix and Hulu viewers watching, and how are they accessing that content? A new study out yesterday from Nielsen offers some answers.
Among Netflix subscribers, 53 percent watch movies, 11 percent tune into TV shows, and 36 percent catch a mixture of both. But among Hulu viewers, only 9 percent are streaming movies, 73 percent are watching TV episodes, and 18 percent grab both equally.

Netflix's Next Big Competitor—Wal-mart?


Recent price hikes have been somewhat of a PR mess for Netflix, and the company now has a new competitor—Walmart.
The retail giant announced Tuesday that it will now sell access to streaming movies on its Web site via video service Vudu, which Walmart bought in February 2010. Visitors can tap into the Vudu library and purchase or view movies directly from walmart.com/vudu.
